Bolshaya Sovetskaya Street

One of the city’s most beautiful sights. This avenue runs from the Dnieper riverbank through Smolensk’s historic center, past Cathedral Hill with the Assumption Cathedral. It was here that prosperous townspeople once built their mansions and income houses. Most residential and administrative buildings along this main street are recognized as monuments of architecture and history.
