Shalamov House

About

This is the house where the famous Russian writer Varlam Shalamov was born and lived. On the first floor is the Shalamov Memorial Museum with period documents and the writer’s personal belongings — a field bag and a watch. The second floor houses an art gallery with an impressive collection of Russian and Western European paintings from the 17th–20th centuries. Here you will find works by Aivazovsky, Repin, Lentulov, and other masters — a true miniature treasure trove that rivals the emotional impact of capital city museums.
