About
A very scenic historical site in Chechnya. Near the confluence of the Chanta-Argun and Meshekhi rivers lies the "city of the dead" — the ancient Tsoi-Pede necropolis. It offers incredible mountain views. It is famous for its stone crypts, which have been preserved since pre-Islamic times. There are over 40 burial structures, altars, and two defensive towers. All buildings are situated on a narrow high cape, naturally protected by terrain on three sides. The site is included in the list of Russia’s cultural heritage.
